Guidebook for exploration
The guidebook for exploration shares information on best practices in Finland.
The guidebook helps those who do not speak Finnish as their native language to better understand the legislation related to mineral exploration and to apply proven exploration practices from planning to implementation and aftercare, as well as communication with various stakeholders.
The guidebook for exploration aims at ensuring that all exploration measures taking place in Finland are implemented in compliance with the best practices. Another goal is to provide a clear picture of what effect exploration has on the environment and stakeholders. It includes a description of the exploration process, the necessary permits and measures of the authorities, as well as communication to the stakeholders and citizens.
Sustainable exploration
The guidebook looks at exploration from the points of view of the environment and occupational safety and health, and gives examples of different compensation practices. Moreover, the TSM Finland standard includes a standard for sustainable exploration, which provides companies with concrete instructions for sustainable operations at each stage of exploration. The Standard is also used to assess performance and verify member companies’ commitment to the common ground rules.
